Today is Day Two of Putting You first. You can find Day one Here.
I really am excited about these posts! I really needed to do this for me, but I don’t take my own advice, so it makes it easier for me! I want to make it easy, where you don’t feel like you are being selfish. I know for me it feels like me putting myself first isn’t being a good mom or wife. But the opposite is true, when I make sure I am feeling content and taken care of, I am a much happier wife and mom. When I am happy it feels like everyone is happy.
Are you still working on your list of Favorites? Great! Keep working on it, It will become easier and I am putting something together that should make it easier!
Today’s task, is easy and hard… I want you to go thru your Social Media Friends lists… and either unfriend or unfollow anyone who makes you feel bad about yourself, or if you get irritated at things they post, or people who just seem to be online bullies! If you are like me, you will worry about hurting people’s feelings, which is why I have a hard time with this, but the more I understand the benefit of setting healthy boundaries, and putting myself first, the easier it becomes.
You don’t have to Unfriend someone to quit seeing their posts, you can actually make it so you no longer see their posts, and still be friends.
I also have my Facebook personal page set so that I have to approve anything that someone tags me in before it will be seen on my timeline.
Just think of your Social Media pages like your home, if you wouldn’t have them in your home, or allow them to treat you rudely in your home, then why would you allow it on your pages? You don’t have to. Remember your social media accounts are YOUR virtual space, and YOU get to decide who you allow in. And this goes for Family as well, you don’t HAVE to be friends, but if you know it will cause problems at family parties, then instead of unfriending them, just unfollow them.
Your goal is to unfollow or unfriend 5 people… In the last month I have gone from 800 “friends” to 675! I love it.. Which is funny, because on my Not Picture Perfect FB page, I want LOTS of friends, I want to share my life stories with anyone that it could help! The interesting part about my “Personal” page vs. my “Business” page, is that I post more vulnerable and personal status updates on Not Picture Perfect.
Have a great day! I love you for you! Talk with you soon!
