Some moments in life are easier to enjoy than others. Photo Source found here.
Sitting by a pool at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, (not my family, but it will be in a week!) THAT will be EASY to enjoy!
How about: rain on your vacation! Less enjoyable? Maybe, maybe not! Last summer at a Mom it Forward Family retreat in Florida, we experienced a few rain showers. Instead of getting upset… We threw on our “Super Hero Capes” (rain ponchos) and still enjoyed our time at Universal. It just took some creativity!
Or this: Sunday, we drove to Park City with the top off our Jeep. We were ready for a day in the sun. The sun was shining most of the drive, but, as we got closer, clouds began rolling in. We decided to park and grab a bite to eat. THEN! BAM! It started POURING!
How we “Enjoy the Journey” even when it’s not so enjoyable.
- DON’T play the “blame” game: My husband and I could have found fault in each other and argued; I could have gotten angry at myself for not buying the soft top. We ALL make mistakes, it’s OK! Don’t get caught up in shoulda, coulda, woulda. Acknowledge that you DIDN’T, and MOVE ON!
- Avoid Negativity: Look at the POSITIVES! The inside of my Jeep needed cleaned?!
- Face the truth, and get creative! There is ALWAYS a solution. 90 minutes from home, we needed warm jackets and towels for the ride home. While finding these items, we had fun! Who doesn’t want a new jacket, and new towels?
- Be willing to compromise: Our day didn’t go as planned. We made the most out of the day by laughing, and having a good attitude. We enjoyed our “Adventurous” ride home.
