Have you ever done something out of your comfort zone?
I have been trying to do more of that lately.
We only live once right?
Back in May, in a CRAZY busy month! I went down with a group of about 40 plus Ladies to Zions for a weekend! We stayed at a beautiful home which is part of Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort (they have LOTS of different options! Anything from camping in tents to ritzy homes!) If you are in Utah or ever come here, you should most definitely check it out!
I kept trying to talk myself out of it before the trip. I came up with a million reasons NOT to go. I was feeling insecure, overwhelmed, knowing camping, hiking, all those “Outdoorsy” type of things just wasn’t ME! And I was going to be with some very amazing people.
The thing is, I can be amazing, and I actually really LOVE NATURE, so of course I would have a great time, right? I DID! IT was amazing! When I got back I wrote a quick snippet about it here.
I LEFT out so much! The BEST thing I got out of it is how I FELT! How it helped me look more at me, and what I should be doing to make ME more HAPPY and STRONG. I am a strong person, sometimes. But with the last couple of months, and everything that has been going on, I had been slipping into a depression. I was slowly allowing all the negative crap effect me. Which in turn effected my whole little family at home. I want my kids to be HAPPY, and know that they can do HARD things! I can’t teach them that, if I am not also.
When we got there we found our rooms and I was in the “main” house, I was rooming with 7 other ladies! And we each had our own BUNK-BEDS! People, these aren’t the bunk-beds I remember as a kid, they were comfy! I am a mattress snob, and my bed was fabulous! I also had this cute bag full of awesome goodies waiting for me!
Everything we needed from a flash light, band-aids from IKEA and some awesome bread and granola from Great Harvest bread of Taylorsville, Utah.
I took it with my TABLET!!! I love pictures, but really don’t get the best with my phone or tablet, so I was pretty impressed with myself. My other two favorites or how both of these are silhouettes with the sunset!
Sunsets! Love them, and need to take more pictures of them, the last 2 were taken by Jill from the Mom it Forward team.
The next day was the day I was the most nervous and excited about, CANYONEERING!!!! As a surprise Zions Ponderosa gave a bunch of the Ladies a Helicopter ride! I am so glad I didn’t have to decide on which to do, because that would have been a tough choice, but for sure the next time I am down there, I will do both!
There was about 12 of us that went. Some of us were scared, some of us were excited. ALL of us cheered and encouraged each other! This was the best part… A bunch of Ladies encouraging each other, wanting each of us to conquer a fear and succeed… That my friends is a beautiful thing!
Here are some pictures of me conquering my fear of heights, and completely trusting others with my safety!
and some more as I am going down:
That night we went on a wagon ride, had a dutch-oven dinner and we were serenaded to by 2 young Cowboys!!!! Really, it was so much fun:
I was sad to have the night end…because it was our last night there.
The next day I chose to go Horseback riding, my wish for a wildly spirited horse did not happen… Which is probably a great thing, as this was only the second time i had ever been on one! My horse was named Tweetle Dee! Yes he did have a friend named Tweetle dumb. It was relaxing to saunter (I think that is what it is called along the trails and admire the trails.
I took my Jeep down! We took the top off and piled a bunch of Ladies in her! Isn’t this so much fun! I love looking thru all these pictures!
When I got home from my little weekend adventure, I was so excited about everything I had done. That I overcame so many fears. I came away loving this group of Ladies, some I already adored, some I was in awe of. All of them helped make the weekend super AMAZING!
I serioulsy can’t wait to go back. Speaking of going back… YOU should take your Family in October!Looking for a fun family adventure retreat that includes your whole family (Yes!
